Have you heard about the Better Behavior Wheel yet? It’s a neat little tool that was developed by a mom who was tired of trying to come up with ways to get her kids to do what needed to be done, or to get them to be nice to each other. So what did she do?
She invented a fun little game called the better behavior wheel. You make the rules (like put away dirty clothes, don’t yell at your sister etc.) and when your child breaks them, he or she spins the wheel. The wheel will then determine a “punishment” that’s related to the rule your child has broken.
For example, if you child broke the “Turn off the lights when you leave your room” rule, the better behavior wheel may deliver a “No Power to your room for 24 hours” punishment which of course would leave your child without TV, music, computer and the likes.
The game comes with quite a few categories and punishments but you can also add your own. In other words you can customize the wheel with the situations you encounter with your child.
What I love about this tool, and what makes it so effective in our house is the fact that I no longer have to be the bad guy dishing out the punishments. Instead that’s done by the wheel leaving me the opportunity to be an impartial bystander who can then have a positive influence on my child. It works like a charm – give it a try.
